I don't see the fairness here. If the rules are important (and I don't believe they are) then why grant waivers to special friends. This smacks of class priviledge, like we saw in communist Russia. The rules only apply to the hoi polloi.

All I get out of this is the relentless effort to promote fear, invoke the "prudential" rule and live large off the flow of money into research grants and "green" projects.
Call me a skeptic.
